PAIN WILL HELP US

El dolor, sí, llega sin avisar. Irrumpe en nuestra casa, sin que le hayamos dado permiso, prepotente, orgulloso de sí mismo, con chulería, reclamando nuestra atención. Nos quedamos un tanto perplejos, Quizás le dejamos pasar. Acaso nuestra paciencia llegue al límite de permitirnos conversar con él. Es un error, claro. Se mire por donde se mire. Porque el dolor, si se lo permitimos, nos invadirá. Lo conquistará todo. Tratará de hacerse el dueño y señor de nuestros lugares más íntimos. Nos robará el aliento y las pocas energías que nos queden, después de haberlo pensado mucho. Al dolor, mejor no pensarlo. Para digerirlo, es preciso que no visite nuestra consciencia. No hay que darle ese lujo. Eso sería como abrirse las venas en público. Un acto, además de inútil, demasiado exhibicionista para la sensibilidad contemporánea. Se me ocurren un millón de razones para mantener el dolor a raya. Para reprimirlo. Quizás, si lo pusiéramos en una pequeña bolsa, el dolor rezumaría piedad por sí mismo. Que momento sublime de narcisismo. El dolor nos remite a viejas costumbres narcisistas. Dejemos que el dolor sobreviva a sí mismo y nos advierta, en el mejor de los casos, de que algo ha terminado, pero algo empieza también. Porque los oscuros razonamientos del dolor son siempre el avance de una buena noticia. Entonces, por qué no, que el dolor sea siempre bienvenido. Que nos inunde con su buena nueva. Y yo sabré qué hacer, cuando se crea insoportable. Le giraré la cara y miraré hacia otro lado. Esperando que otros dolores lleguen. O esperando que la primavera no sea demasiado fría este año. Hermanos en el dolor, no desesperéis. Sólo me queda un mensaje de desesperanza en la esperanza. Y dejad, os lo pìdo como un favor especial, que el dolor os duela.

Pain, yes, comes without warning. Breaks into our home without permission, arrogant, proud of himself, cocky, demanding our attention. We remain somewhat perplexed, maybe we let him come in. Perhaps if we put it in a small bag, pain would ooze pity for himself. Such a sublime moment of narcissism. The pain goes back to old narcissist habits. Let the pain survive to himself and warns us in the best case, that something is over, but something begins as well. Because the obscure reasons of pain are always advancing good news.
